Man rescued from ocean near Crescent Beach

400-MARINE-RESCUE-LIFEGUARDHistoric City News received word this afternoon that St Johns County Fire Rescue crews responded to a near drowning in the ocean waters north of the Matanzas Avenue Beach Ramp in Crescent Beach.

At approximately 4:15 p.m. today, an emergency 9-1-1 call was received from a resident who reported losing sight of a man swimming alone in the ocean about 10 minutes prior to the call.

Marine Rescue watercraft was dispatched to the scene. At 4:45 p.m., the victim, a man approximately 60-year-old, was located in knee deep water about 200 yards north of the beach ramp.

Paramedics provided advanced cardiac life support to the victim, who was discovered in cardiac arrest. The victim was transported to Flagler Hospital in critical condition.

No other injuries were reported.
