An 84-year-old man living off Lewis Speedway, north of St Augustine, was attacked in the early evening hours of Saturday January 12, and St Johns County Sheriff’s detectives are asking Historic City News readers for assistance identifying his assailant.
The victim of the home invasion robbery was treated by St. Johns County Fire-Rescue at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.
“We believe that this crime was committed by a white man, approximately 6’00”, 190-200 pounds,” Detective David Garns told reporters. “The elderly victim stated that the attacker was wearing a gray and white baseball cap.”
According to the incident report, while the victim was home, the robber smashed a glass-door window and ran through the residence; striking the victim with an unknown object.
While inside, the attacker stole the victim’s wallet; containing an undisclosed amount of cash.
