Matthew Sara informed local Historic City News reporters that at approximately 6:00 a.m. this morning, St Johns County Fire Rescue responded to single-wide mobile home fire in the 1400 block of West Street, near SR-207.
While responding to the fire, crews were advised by callers that there were flames showing from under the residence.
“Upon arrival, crews found flames and smoke showing from inside the structure,” Sara reported. “Thanks to the quick knockdown, there was no damage to the adjacent homes, which were very close to this structure.”
Initial tactics were a rapid fire attack, and search. Crews were able to get the fire knocked down in approximately 10 minutes. There were no victims found and there were no injuries reported.
The fire was deemed completely extinguished approximately 30 minutes after the initial alarm. One lane of SR-207 was closed during the fire due to hydrant use in the area.
The home was believed to be unoccupied, and was estimated to be a total loss.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by St Johns County Fire Rescue.
