Historic City News has received notification that 24-year-old Candace Kiara Jackson is under arrest and being held, without bond, until her first appearance hearing this morning; charged with aggravated battery and murder with a deadly weapon in a domestic dispute that ended in the Bank of America parking lot at 4305 US-1 South yesterday evening.
According to homicide detectives and evidence collected at the scene, 56-year-old Rosa Lee Armstrong, her daughter, identified as 22-year-old Shaina Armstrong, and other family members, were walking in the parking lot of the Bank of America just after 5:30 p.m., when Jackson drove towards them; deliberately striking the two female victims with her car.
The mother, Rosa Lee Armstrong, died at the scene.
Her daughter was said to be involved in a domestic relationship with Jackson and the two had argued earlier in the day, investigators told Historic City News reporters. Shaina Armstrong was transported to Flagler Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries by St Johns County Fire Rescue emergency medical personnel.
Media Relations Officer, Kevin Kelshaw, informed Historic City News that the investigation is continuing.
