Gwendolyn Duncan, as spokesperson for the Anniversary to Commemorate the Civil Rights Demonstrations, has informed local Historic City News reporters that the organization has set its second “Spruce Up” of 79 Bridge Street; to take place on Monday, December 30th, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
The Rudcarlie Building, was once the dental office of the 1960’s Civil Rights Leader, Dr. Robert B. Hayling; and will be the site of the upcoming ACCORD Commemorative 60’s Civil Rights Movement Museum, Duncan said.
“I am calling on young adults and those young-at-heart to help with the second round spruce-up of the building; which needs to be brought up to standards before we open the museum,” Duncan told Historic City News in an e-mail today. “Your volunteer service is appreciated.”
Temporarily, the building is being used by The Civil Rights Museum of St. Augustine, Inc. and Anniversary to Commemorate the Civil Rights Demonstrations, Inc., as a provisional headquarters for fundraising activities.
