St Johns County seasonal lifeguard program

Historic City News was notified by Jeremy Robshaw that St Johns County Fire Rescue would hold its annual lifeguard orientation meetings and seasonal lifeguard tryouts for the 2013 beach season during the coming weeks.

Orientation meetings will be held at the Marine Rescue Office located at 366 A1A Beach Boulevard in St Augustine.

“We are in the market to hire upwards of 20 new seasonal lifeguards,” Robshaw told reporters. “If you are interested in employment with St Johns County Fire Rescue as a seasonal beach lifeguard, you must attend one of our orientation meetings and complete the tryout.”

Orientation meetings:

• January 16, 2013 at 7pm
• January 20, 2013 at 10am

2013 tryouts will be held on the following dates and times at the Solomon Calhoun Community Center located at 1300 Duval Street St. Augustine, FL.

• January 26, 2013 at 10am
• February 2, 2013 at 10am

The Marine Rescue Academy will be held during the month of February at the Marine Rescue Beach Office on the following days:

• February 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 10th
• February 12th, 13th, 14th, 17th
• February 19th, 20th, 21st, 24th
• February 26th, 27th, 28th, March 2nd

Class hours will be as follows:

• Weekday evenings from 6pm – 10pm
• Weekends from 9am – 5pm
