Wendy’s robbery under investigation

Posted on 02/02/201302/03/2013 By Historic City News

400-WENDYS-US-1-SR-312Shortly after 10:00 a.m. this morning, a man wearing a dark gray camouflage jacket and red and white Nike running shoes, walked into Wendy’s at 1830 US-1 South and demanded money from the cashier at the counter, according to a report received by Historic City News in St Augustine.

Sheriff’s spokesman Kevin Kelshaw told reporters that witnesses to the robbery did not observe a weapon although the robber indicated that he was armed.

“No one was injured in this dangerous encounter,” Kelshaw said. “The cashier handed over a small amount of cash from her register.”

Once the robber had the cash in hand, the dark skinned black male, estimated to be in his 40’s, standing 6′- 6’1″ tall and weighing about 160-170 pounds, fled the scene on foot.

Anyone with information concerning this crime is asked to contact Detective David Garnes at the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office by calling (904) 824-8304. You can remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a cash reward by calling CrimeStoppers of Northeast Florida at 1-888-277-TIPS (8477).
