Chris Stone and Kim McNickle accepted a one thousand dollar donation for the St Johns County School District “Aid and Support for Students in Sudden Transition” program; according to a report received by Historic City News last week.
Making the presentation was school district employee, Brennan Asplen, and fellow members of the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce Leadership St. Johns Class of 2014.
“We challenge each of our leadership classes to amplify their community impact,” Isabelle Rodriguez, president of the St. Johns County Chamber, said. “As an alumnus of the Leadership St. Johns program, their collective effort has made me proud, especially today. This donation will help support homeless children in our community.”
Hundreds of local homeless students receive transportation, to and from school, tutoring, and food services. The School District’s program works to provide all of the services and basic things that a student needs to succeed in the classroom.
Also participating in the presentation on Tuesday, December 9th, were Lon Stafford – Carr, Riggs & Ingram, Sue Richerson – Council on Aging, Joel Abo – St. Johns River State College, and Cathy Mittelstadt – St. Augustine High School.
