Flagler County Sheriff’s detectives are seeking help from Historic City News readers to identify the man who robbed a 73-year-old visitor inside his hotel room at the Best Western Hotel in Palm Coast at approximately 12:40 p.m. on Monday.
The robber, impersonating a service technician, approached the victim and his 70-year-old wife in the parking lot of the hotel located on Kingswood Drive and asked the couple if they were checking out of the hotel.
They told the robber that they were not leaving yet; and the robber told them that he was there to make the necessary television repairs. Since the hotel guests had been experiencing problems with the television in their room, they believed the man was there to help.
The victim told Flagler County Sheriff’s detectives that the man followed them back to their room and after the guest opened the door, he pushed the victim to the ground. The incident report indicates that the assailant made threatening remarks to the victim and stole his wallet.
Investigators are looking for a black male, 5’8 to 5’10”, 180-190 pounds with greasy black hair. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and dark jeans.
Surveillance video spotted the robber driving a 2003-2007, silver Honda Accord or Honda Civic.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detective Elizabeth Conrad at 386-586-4844 regarding case 2014-86482. Or call Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, at (888)277-TIPS. You can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
