During this month’s regular meeting of the Republican Club of St Augustine, members and guests will have an opportunity to meet and hear from both Republican candidates for St Johns County Clerk of Court.

This meeting and candidate forum will take place Monday, February 8th at 6:30 p.m. at the St Augustine Shrine Club, located at 250 Brainard Drive.

Upon the retirement of former clerk Cheryl Strickland last year, the seat was filled, briefly, by local appointment of George Lareau who had been Strickland’s Deputy Clerk. Soon after the judicial appointment, Governor Rick Scott stepped in and appointed Hunter Conrad, an attorney at Canan Law, to fill Strickland’s unexpired term.

A third candidate, Jake Riley, has withdrawn from the contest.

Donations of side dishes and desserts are appreciated. The entre will be chicken. Membership dues are payable for 2016 and may be handled at the meeting. In regular business, the club’s scholarship drive is continuing and reported to be nearing its goal.

Donations were received from:
Former Senator John Thrasher
Candidate Vicki Oakes, Supervisor of Elections
Representative Cyndi Stevenson
Candidate Dottie Acosta, County Commission, District 5
Candidate Fred Costello, US Congress, District 6
Gary Howell. Chairman, Mosquito Control Board
Lee Owen, Immediate Past President

Pledges were received from:
Candidate Hunter Conrad, Clerk of the Court
Candidate Eddie Creamer, Property Appraiser

Please bring your donation to the meeting.
