Historic City News was informed by Commander Chuck Mulligan last week that 36-year-old Johnny Lawrence Williams, Jr., the man wanted in connection with the April 5th shooting that left 24-year-old Jamie Wilson and 18-year-old Keiwuan Murray dead, has been located in Jacksonville and arrested on a warrant charging him with two counts of murder.
Jacksonville media is reporting that a tip led US Marshals to Norwood Food Mart in the 6000 block of Norwood Avenue where an arrest team located, identified and took Williams into custody without incident.
According to witnesses, more than a dozen police officers surrounded the car Williams was in. They repeatedly ordered Williams out of the vehicle, but he refused. Officers broke out the car’s window and pulled Williams out.
Williams appeared in court yesterday in Duval County to be arraigned on charges that he killed his girlfriend and an 18-year-old victim in St. Augustine last week. Williams was denied bond in his first appearance Saturday and his next scheduled court date is April 26th.
Although one of the shootings occurred in the City of St Augustine and the other was outside the city in St Johns County, Williams capture was effected in Duval County, requiring his first hearing to be made there. Although he will be returned to St Johns County for prosecution, there has been no date for Williams to be relocated.
Investigators with The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit, in conjunction with The St. Augustine Police Department are continuing their investigation.
