Freddie Lee Simmons, 70, of St. Augustine, passed away on Wednesday, October
Freddie was born November 13, 1947 in Creswell, North Carolina, the oldest son of Fentress and Doris Rae Simmons. Freddie grew up in Creswell, NC, living there until he joined the Navy in 1966, serving for 8 years. He was stationed in Hawaii and the Philippines and served honorably during three tours in Vietnam. Freddie has been a resident of St. Augustine, FL for 27 years, and was an active member of VFW Post 2391.
Freddie was loved by all who ever met him, and by his family always. Freddie is survived by his wife Mello-Dee, brother Craig Simmons of New Bern, North Carolina and sister Rose Mohler of Afton, Virginia.
