All St. Johns County beaches are closed to vehicular traffic and could remain so through Sunday.
Due to unusually high surf and tides related to Hurricane Florence, safe access to driving lanes is limited or non-existent. The beaches remain open to pedestrians, but visitors are urged to exercise extreme caution as hazardous ocean conditions are not recommended for swimming or recreational activities.
Beach Services and the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office will reinstate vehicular access as soon as conditions safely allow.
