Fire Chief appointed to Fire Chiefs Association board
St. Augustine Fire Chief Carlos Aviles has been appointed to the Florida Fire Chiefs Association Board of Directors as its Northeast Florida Director.
Aviles has been a member of the St. Augustine Fire Department for the past 15 years and was named to his current position in 2016.
Historic City News learned that Aviles also serves on the Florida Firefighters Employment Standards and Training Council, the Fire and Emergency Incident Information System Technical Advisory Panel, and is on the board for the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
Aviles is an active member of the U.S. Army Reserve and has been since 2001 with combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.
As a regional director, Aviles will represent the 20 counties in the FFCA northeast region, including Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Columbia, Dixie, Duval, Flagler, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Madison, Marion, Nassau, Putnam, St. Johns, Suwannee, Taylor, and Union.
