Apollo’s Lunar Module
Saturday, October 1 @ 11 am – Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Project Apollo! Joseph Walsh, who worked in the Apollo Program from 1961 to 1969, will give a presentation on the lunar module system, the Apollo space program, and the behind-the-scenes activities that the public never saw.

Teen Forum
Tuesday, October 4 @ 6 pm – Hey teens! Want to Make a Difference @ Your Library? Provide input for teen programs! Light Refreshments provided by the Friends of the Library.

Storytimes

Join us for our weekly storytimes for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.

READ to Rover
Saturday, October 8 @ 10 am – Hey kids! Are you in elementary school? Do you like animals? Join us at the Southeast Branch and read to the dogs! You can share your favorite stories with “kid’s best
friend!” If your parents ask, just tell them that you’re “improving” your reading skills. This will be the ONLY READ to Rover in October!

Teen Twilight Night
Tuesday, October 11 @ 5 pm – With evening twilight getting earlier and earlier, fall is fast approaching, and so are some of our favorite theatre movies! Teens ages 12-18 are invited to join us for the third in this series of movies about mythical creatures and a teenage girl caught up between the two. Get ready for the fourth movie’s theatrical release! Participants will have a chance to win prizes!

Friends of the Library Treasure & Book Sale

Teen Scare-Off
Tuesday, October 18 @ 6 pm – Teens are invited to join their peers in a spine-tingling round of scary stories! Winners of September’s Scary Story contest will have the chance to read their stories out loud. Teens who did not participate in last month’s contest may choose a short spooky story from a selection of library books. Teen Scare-Off prizes will be awarded at this event. Light refreshments will be provided.

Movie Night
Thursday, October 20 @ 6 pm – (PG-13) Everyone is invited to watch this newly released movie. “When an enemy of the Green Lantern Corps threatens to destroy the balance of power in the universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected.” Snacks and refreshment will be provided.

“Un-Scary” Halloween Party!
Saturday, October 22 @ 10 am – Boyles and Ghouls and their monster families are cordially invited to the Southeast Branch Library’s Un-Scary Halloween Party. Join us for ghostly games, creepy crafts, the Trail-O’-Treats, and Phantom Face-Painting! Get ready for a SPOOK-tacular time!

Family Halloween Movie Marathon
Monday, October 24 @ 10 am-5 pm – SCHOOL’S OUT TODAY! Halloween is only ONE WEEK away. ‘Tweens and Teens ages 8-18 are invited to enjoy fun festive favorites (no parents please!). Please call 904-827-6900 for movie information!

Teen Pumpkin Carving
Tuesday, October 25 @ 6 pm – Teens ages 12-18 can enjoy the spirit of Halloween for most of the month after they have carved their own pumpkin. Wal-Mart provides the pumpkins. Carving tools and templates are also available at the library. Please call 904-827-6900 to register.

Southeast Book Club: “Half-Broke Horses”
Thursday, October 27 @ 6:45 pm – Everyone is invited to come and join us as we discuss this incredible new novel by Jeannette Walls about Lily Casey Smith and her life as a rodeo rider, fearless breaker of horses, and a ruthless poker player. New members are always welcome!
