Nancy Grote will portray Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings and Ashley Carter will appear as her husband, Norton S Baskin, when A Classic Theatre presents their production of CROSS ROADS: Unguarded Moments, according to a Romanza Week update received by Historic City News.
This Romanza Week kickoff event is a stage adaptation of letters between the beloved author and her husband during the pivotal moments of their relationship by Deborah B Dickey.
From their courtship through their long separation during World War II, the author’s relationship with Norton Baskin is tested, and he is revealed, not only as the charming southern gentleman from Alabama but, as a wonderful storyteller in his own right.
In their letters, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings reveals her hopes and fears, and Baskin regales the author with his anecdotes of life in St. Augustine and his service in India, while matching her skill in wit and wisdom.
All tickets are $20 and reservations can be made by calling (904) 829-5807.
Performances are May 14, 15, and 16 at 7:30 pm in the Flagler Room on the campus of Flagler College, 74 King St. in downtown St. Augustine.
