Merrill Musikar, KG4 IDD, President of the Flagler Emergency Communications Association in Palm Coast, announced that a nationwide communications platform would be established to simulate emergency conditions for 24-hours; beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 23 at the Flagler Beach Fire Department headquarters.
The simulated emergency, performed by FCC licensed Ham Radio operators, will be open to the public as part of National Field Day events being conducted by the American Radio Relay League.
Tours of the operation at 320 South Flagler Avenue in Flagler Beach, and an opportunity to learn more about Ham Radio, are available, without charge, throughout the simulation period on a “drop by” basis. No advance arrangements are necessary, according to the announcement.
