Supervisor announces last day to register
Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oakes reported to Historic City News that the registration books for St Johns County voters would close Monday, July 16 — marking the last day to register to vote or to change your party affiliation for the August 14, 2012 Primary Election.
Oakes offered a reminder that Florida is a “closed primary” state; which means voters must vote the official primary ballot of the same political party in which they are registered.
“Voters registered with a minor political party, or without party affiliation, may vote only on non-partisan offices such as Anastasia Mosquito Control or school board member,” Oakes told reporters.
Voters are encouraged to visit the Supervisor of Elections website at www.votesjc.com and click on the Voter Lookup to verify their voter record. All up-to-date elections information is available through the elections website or by calling the elections office at (904) 823-2238.
