The Sheriff’s Office is asking Historic City News readers in St Augustine and St Johns County for assistance identifying and locating two suspected burglars captured on surveillance video recently in the Fruit Cove area of northwest St Johns County.
On the video, the young man and woman can be observed approaching a vehicle parked at a residence in Fruit Cove Estates off CR-13, thirty-days ago. The homeowner said neither had a reason to be in his driveway.
When a motion detector turned on a floodlight, it startled the unwelcomed pair; they can be seen in the video as they turn away and flee the property.
The incriminating video was presented to authorities this week after the homeowners learned of neighbors that had their unlocked vehicles entered at about the same time.
Anyone with information concerning this crime is asked to contact Detective Charles “Kip” Brantley at the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office at (904) 209-3986. You can remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a cash reward by calling CrimeStoppers of Northeast Florida at 1-888-277-TIPS (8477).
