Jennifer Tesori reported to Historic City News in Saint Augustine that the annual “Flip Flop ‘til you Drop” walk was held in early July, with this year’s proceeds solely supporting our local Boys & Girls Club.
Over 500 participants rallied at Jack’s Barbecue to kick off the event, which included live music, flip flopping from-and-to various A1A venues, a charity auction, raffles and a t-shirt designer contest.
“The day was a huge success, we raised over $15,000 for local kids,” Tesori told Historic City News. “This popular event has donated nearly $100,000 to local charities in the last 10 years.”
Several businesses stretching along St Augustine Beach joined to host the event. In addition, more than 20 additional local businesses helped raise funds by contributing gift cards and certificates to the raffle.
“We’re already excited about next-year’s event,” Tesori told reporters. “Special thanks go out to Jack’s Barbecue, the Taco Shop, Dunes Cracker House, Coquina Beach Surf Club, Panama Hattie’s, FA’s Cafe, Holiday Isle, and Old Town Trolley Tours who provided transportation for those who did not wish to walk the entire event route.”
