Man wanted for attempting to rob Kangaroo

Posted on 10/25/201210/26/2012 By Historic City News

Detective David Garns has asked Historic City News readers for help identifying a man that attempted to commit robbery at the Kangaroo convenience store located in the 400 block of SR-16 early this morning.

Shortly before 5:00 a.m. this morning, the 38-year-old clerk on duty reported that a man entered the store, approached the counter, and then demanded money. Video surveillance cameras captured photographs of the man with a shirt over his face.

The clerk did not see a weapon; however, the robber implied that he was armed, according to the police report.

Robbery-Homicide detectives are searching for the 5’9″ tall white man, short brown hair, average build, who was wearing a long sleeve flannel plaid shirt, dark blue shorts and black sneakers.

The man fled the store without any money or merchandise. He was last seen running on Schallers Road.

Anyone with information concerning this crime is asked to contact the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office at (904) 824-8304. You can remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a cash reward by calling CrimeStoppers of Northeast Florida at 1-888-277-TIPS (8477).
