Detectives with the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office Robbery/Homicide Section are continuing to investigate a fatal stabbing that occurred last night.
After receiving initial reports from the Jacksonville Beach Police Department, deputies responded to the wooded area behind the Target Shopping Center on Marsh Landing Parkway.
Once on scene, deputies located the body of the victim, Luther Anderson Hardmon, 35, no known address.
Several witnesses were in the area during the time of the incident and were detained for questioning.
As the investigation progressed, detectives established that Hardmon’s girlfriend, Brenda I Santiago Muniz, 28, no known address, stabbed Hardmon during an altercation. An exact motive for the incident has not been established.
This morning, Dr. Predag Bulic of the 23rd District Medical Examiner’s Office released preliminary autopsy results.
Dr. Bulic ruled the manner of the victim’s death as Homicide and the cause as a stab wound.
Muniz has been arrested for murder and remains in the St Johns County Jail with a bond amount of $750,000.00.
