Butterfield Garage Art Gallery announced to Historic City News in St Augustine that an original member, and long-time exhibitor, Beau Redmond, has returned to the gallery and says he is glad to be home.
As an artist, Redmond is well known for his “Wall Street” paintings — he paints over the Wall Street Journal newspaper; while creating a Wall Street scene, he allows the print to show through, making the headlines and ads part of the piece.
“He would be the last one to say this, but he is quite well known in the art world,” Butterfield Garage told reporters. “Beau just loves to paint and his art hangs in major art museums and corporate collections.”
Now, Redmond’s main focus is St Augustine and he has begun to chronicle what we see here every day. Whether it’s the old fence or the Live Oak with sunlight pouring through the branches, people walk by every day and never notice the wonderful place we live.
His work reminds us to treasure the natural beauty of our world, as it is, right here in St Augustine.
Butterfield Garage Art Gallery is located at 137 King Street, is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and participates in the monthly “First Friday Art Walk”.
