St. Johns Cultural Council spokesperson Kathe O’Donnelly reported to Historic City News that five local women have been selected to receive an award for their achievement and contributions to the arts in St. Johns County.
The fifth annual presentation of the Dr Gail Pflaster award, Recognizing Outstanding Women in the Arts, will be held in The Black Box at The Limelight Theatre on Sunday, March 10 at 6:00 p.m. The ceremony is free and open to the public.
The women receiving the award for 2013 are, Debbie McDade, Mary Siess, Diane Bradley, Wendy Tatter, and Patty Rang, O’Donnelly reported.
Last year, the St Johns Cultural Council took over responsibilities for the annual award; established in 2009 by the late Dr. Gail Pflaster — a local writer and enthusiastic arts supporter.
Originally the awards committed was comprised of a coalition of six arts organizations including the St. Johns Cultural Council, National League of American Pen Women-Saint Augustine Branch, Tale Tellers of Saint Augustine, Jane’s Stories Press Foundation, Limelight Theatre, and Cyprian Center for Expressive Arts.
