Winners from Taste of the Beach

Historic City News was informed this morning of the winning entrants in this year’s Memorial Day Weekend Taste of the Beach.

In addition to the 2013 Judges Choice winner, Panama Hatties, recognition was given for “First Place” winners in categories for Best Dessert (Purple Olive), Best Appetizer (Sunset Grille), and Best Entrée (Salt Life Food Shack).

A portion of the proceeds from this year’s event went to benefit the Betty Griffin House. Kim Brumfield, Community Awareness Coordinator for the shelter for victims of sexual violence and abuse, reported that the event was a success.

Mayor of St. Augustine Beach S. Gary Snodgrass, Chief of St. Augustine Beach Police Department Robert Hardwick, Council on Aging Director Cathy Brown, Director of the Scenic Highway Sallie O’Hara and the Director of the Tourist Development Council Glenn Hastings served as Celebrity Judges; rating the winning restaurants.
