In order to accommodate the new CR-210 overpass being built over US-1 in northern St Johns County, a section of Old Dixie Highway was permanently closed yesterday and a new segment of Cross Ridge Drive was opened, according to an update received by Historic City News.
Using federal funding, the Florida Department of Transportation is overseeing the construction of the new $9.9 million overpass which will straighten CR-210; by moving traffic up and over US-1 and the adjacent Florida East Coast Railway tracks.
“As of this week, traffic on the north side of the new overpass will use Cross Ridge Drive, a new extension of the existing road in Nocatee, to access US-1,” said FDOT District Two Public Information Director, Gina Busscher. “Those who use Old Dixie Highway south of CR-210 West will continue to use Valley Ridge Boulevard to access US-1.”
The work is about 33-percent done and is scheduled for completion by next summer, Busscher told reporters.
