Commander Charles Mulligan, Sheriff’s Community Affairs Bureau, informed local Historic City News reporters that Crime Scene Technicians continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding an early morning shooting that occurred in the 4600 block of Pecos Court.
According to reports from the detectives with the Major Crimes Unit, an altercation occurred in the home between the resident, 48-year-old Francis Arthur Charles, and 27-year-old Blake William Miles, who resides at 3705 Navajo Place.
Around 3:30 a.m. this morning, the disturbance escalated and eventually led to shots being fired. Miles was struck with at least one round. St Johns County Fire Rescue stabilized the patient and he was flown to UF Health Care in Jacksonville by air ambulance.
The investigation is on-going and no charges have been filed as investigators continue to review the circumstances behind the incident.
