Historic City News followed the District 1 race for County Commissioner very closely during the Primary Election and in making our editorial endorsements we looked at all three candidates, focusing on the two Republicans who faced off in August.
As we predicted, Stevenson won handily against opponent Albert J. Abbatiello. Cyndi will go on to face Merrill Paul Roland in the November General Election. Roland qualified and is running as an Independent.
Stevenson took the time to respond to our readers with the following message:
I appreciate each and every supporter who contributed their time, talents and resources to make this campaign a success. We won in every precinct and district throughout St. Johns County. I am grateful and humbled by this decisive victory in the Republican primary.
I look forward to the new board and our community pulling together to serve the people of St. Johns County. We have a great deal of work to do to ensure long term local prosperity and to make sure historic and scenic St. Johns County is a great place to live for generations to come.
Historic City Media, thank you for your endorsement and allowing me to share this message.
As for the Stevenson Campaign, we are celebrating a primary victory and seeking your support in the General Election on November 4th.
Historic City News has extended an invitation to comment to any candidate whose race was decided in the August Primary.
