St Johns County Beach Management has informed Historic City News that they are preparing for the upcoming holiday weekend, when they expect the demand for off-beach parking to exceed capacity.
In order to provide some relief for residents and businesses, July 3rd through July 5, 2015, St. Johns County is offering a free shuttle service to Mickler’s Beachfront Park and St. Johns County Ocean and Fishing Pier from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
“The free Reach the Beach shuttles help relieve congestion at the Mickler’s Beachfront Park and the St. Johns County Ocean and Fishing Pier,” Parks and Recreation Director Wil Smith told local reporters. “We want to give St. Johns County residents and visitors a safer and more convenient beach experience.”
The Mickler’s shuttle will transport beach visitors between Cornerstone Park, 1046 A1A North, Ponte Vedra, FL 32082, and Mickler’s Beachfront Park, which provides direct access to the beach.
The Pier shuttle will transport beach visitors between St. Augustine Beach City Hall, 2200 SR A1A South, and the Pier lot, which provides direct access to the Pier amenities and the beach.
The shuttles will run every 20 minutes with the final shuttle departing from each location at 4:00 p.m. Service updates will be provided via the St. Johns County “Reach the Beach” mobile website, Twitter feed, and Facebook page. For additional information, visit www.sjcfl.us/Beaches or call 904.209.0344.
Both shuttle services are provided by the St. Johns County Council on Aging Inc.
