Historic City News was informed that a 57-year-old Kingsland, Georgia woman was extradited from Camden County to St Johns County Monday evening on charges related to a burglary at the home of a St Johns County candidate for Anastasia Mosquito Control Board.

It seems the homeowner was watching a live video feed of Laurie Jean Abbott who had gained entry to his rear porch on June 14, 2015. Abbott can be seen peering into the windows of the residence. She was observed leaving the porch and walking westbound towards the road.

The video was turned over to sheriff’s investigators who collected other evidence at the scene. Fingerprints and DNA evidence was found where she allegedly attempted to open a locked window.

The investigation revealed that nothing was stolen, however, all of the doors had visible pry marks indicating an effort to gain entry.

Abbott is listed as a career criminal and was on inmate release status at the time of the crime. She has previous arrests for burglary.

Latent fingerprints were collected at the scene and they were submitted to the FBI Automatic Fingerprint Identification System for comparison. Analysts were able to match the collected prints to those on file that belong to Abbott.

Abbott was picked up last Tuesday in Kingsland, Georgia, on the St. Johns County warrant and is currently in the St. Johns County Jail in lieu of a $20,000 bond.
