City may split cost of transient shelter
Historic City News has learned that St. Augustine Police Chief Loran K. Lueders needs help to enforce the City’s “no-camping” ordinance; since enforcement requires that alternative beds be available elsewhere.





City staff reported to Historic City News that they will recommend to St. Augustine City Commissioners Monday that a period for proposals be extended to August 11th after only one bid was submitted regarding the North City Water Works building.
City Manager John Regan announced to Historic City News that he will outline a proposed “mission statement” and concise “action plan” to implement the 450th Commemoration before the St. Augustine City Commission workshop on Monday.
Flagler College spokesman Brian Thompson informed local Historic City News reporters that the school has launched a fundraising effort called “Setting the Stage” to raise money for one of St. Augustine’s cornerstone event venues.
For as long as there have been bank-issued credit cards like VISA and MasterCard, merchants have paid a fee to authorize and collect their transactions through those payment systems — and, for almost as long, Historic City News has known of schemes by merchants to recover those costs.
Although St. Johns County’s budget will not be finalized until August, the Board of County Commissioners has announced to Historic City News that they will have a Special Meeting on Tuesday, July 12th at 9:00 a.m. where staff will present the recommended budget for fiscal year 2012.
