On a 4-0 vote, with Commissioner Leanna Freeman absent, the commission of the City of St Augustine approved a new ordinance on second reading after hours of sworn witness testimony and public comments, that will prohibit general panhandling and begging for money within specific 20-foot or 100-foot zones within the city.
Photojournalist Jorge Rivera, reporting for Historic City News in St Augustine, estimated the turnout for yesterday’s display of solidarity with the nationwide “March for our Lives” events at between 2,500-3,000 participants; with other media estimates as high as 5,000 people.
Historic City News received an update today from St Augustine Police Public Information Officer Cici “Hollywood” Aiple regarding the attempted carjacking that occurred yesterday evening on Avenida Menendez.
Historic City News was notified by Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Officer, Monica R. Reifeiss, that traffic will be impacted at the following
St Augustine and St Johns County locations where roadwork is being conducted.
Be alert to lane closures and temporary detours, as well as increased congestion in these areas. FDOT employees and contractors will be working on the roadways and need your full attention.
