St. Johns County Emergency Operations Center reported to Historic City News this afternoon that they have been fielding numerous inquiries asking when it will be safe for residents to return to their homes on the barrier islands and other evacuation zones.
Saying that emergency personnel do not know the full extent of damage to our county yet, Lieutenant Jeremy Robshaw told Historic City News that we won’t know the condition of specific roads or areas for some time.
In anticipation of Hurricane Irma, St Johns County law enforcement agencies have announced to Historic City News that they will enforce a curfew that will be in effect from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. nightly beginning Sunday, September 10th.
After leaving a path of destruction through parts of the Caribbean, Hurricane Irma’s eye moved through the lower Florida Keys this morning. By midday, the National Hurricane Center reported to Historic City News that the deadly Category 4 storm had begun to swing away from the Keys — and toward Florida’s mainland.
