Rash of downtown robberies have police concerned
Following up on recent strong-arm robbery cases in St Augustine, Historic City News has learned that police are scouring the downtown area for video footage at the time of the robberies.
Sea turtles rehabilitated and returned to their native environment
St. Johns County Beach Services and South Carolina Aquarium released three rehabilitated juvenile green sea turtles this afternoon at Surfside Park according to an announcement received by local Historic City News reporters.
Hurricane Matthew town hall is not tonight
The City of St Augustine announced to local Historic City News reporters that their town hall meeting, originally scheduled for Tuesday, February 7th, has been rescheduled to avoid conflicting with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of St. Johns County’s “Tips for Kid’s Sake” event.
City police continue to harass artists with citations
The City of St Augustine was ordered by a Federal Court in 2009 to allow artists to create and sell paintings, prints, photographs and sculpture in public spaces; ruling that such was First Amendment protected activity.

Boat fire on San Sebastian River sends one to burn unit
Historic City News was informed that at about 8:23 a.m. this morning, firefighters and paramedics from the St Augustine Fire Department, St Johns County Fire Rescue, and first responders from the St Augustine Police Department and Sheriff’s Office, responded to Cat’s Paw Marina located on the San Sebastian River at Nix Boat Yard Road.
