Fugitive spotted in our area

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office has asked for help from Historic City News readers in locating a fugitive who may be hiding in our area and is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Small Business Development Center opens office

The Small Business Development Center at the University of North Florida, in partnership with the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners, announced to Historic City News the opening of a full-service location in St. Johns County.

DUI saturation patrol this weekend

Kevin Kelshaw, Media Relations Officer with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, reported to Historic City News that deputies with the Traffic Crash Response and Traffic Enforcement Units will be out this Friday night and early Saturday morning conducting a county wide DUI saturation patrol.

Major changes at Visitors and Convention Bureau

In a communication received by Historic City News this morning, Charles Cox, chairman of the board of the Visitors and Convention Bureau, promises that a number of recent changes made at the Visitors and Convention Bureau will make the organization more responsive to industry needs during a difficult period for tourism.

Historic City News has been notified that County Administrator Michael Wanchick will be the guest speaker this month before the Republican Women’s Club of Saint Johns County.

Utility lease plan saves 400-seat restaurant

It wouldn’t have been possible under up-front utility connection fees, but under a lease plan approved by commissioners Monday, a 400-seat restaurant on SR 16, expected to employ 200, can move forward.
