TRIM will include County millage increase
On a motion by Ron Sanchez, seconded by Mark Miner, and unanimously approved by the St. Johns County Commission, the maximum millage increase of .75 will be the figure included in the TRIM notices that will be mailed to property owners this month.
Fire union president supports increase
Historic City News listened as Edward F. Houston II, president of the St. Johns County Professional Firefighters and Paramedics union, addressed the County Commission with a new conciliatory voice — at one point apologizing for past adversarial tensions between the union and Board.
Beauty for the 450th
Rhey Palmer, president of the St. Augustine Uptown Neighborhood Association, informed Historic City News that he is chairing a 450th Beautification Project Steering Committee to tackle landscaping in the city’s historic district, entry corridors, and neighborhoods.
Being aware of neighboring sex offenders
A large number of arrests and crimes involving sexual offenders and predators have been reported to Historic City News in recent weeks; enough to warrant looking a little deeper into the sex offenders residing in St. Johns County.
