Stolen credit card used at local pharmacy

St Johns County Sheriff’s spokesman, Kevin Kelshaw, informed Historic City News that a resident in the 700 block of Porta Rosa Circle at the Murabella subdivision in St Augustine reported her car had been burglarized sometime between Saturday evening and Sunday morning while it was parked at her home.

Supervisor opens absentee ballot drop-offs

Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oakes announced to Historic City News readers that beginning tomorrow, October 11 and continuing until Election Day, November 6, 2012, St Johns County voters who have requested an absentee ballot will have 11 convenient locations where they can be cast — no postage required.

County gets 6-month extension for 800MHz radios

Historic City News has learned from St Johns County Fire Rescue Chief Carl Shank, that the Federal Communications Commission has delayed a January 1 completion deadline until June 30, 2013 — allowing the county’s emergency service agencies ample time to convert from their current VHF radio system to UHF (800MHz).

Two park and trail locations provided for the enjoyment of families and residents, were targeted in a sting operation yesterday; leading to the arrest of three Flagler County men who are accused of unnatural and lascivious acts and exposure of sexual organs.

The Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind reported to Historic City News that one of their students vocalists, Daniel Tanner, a performer in the campus’ musical group OuttaSight, has been selected as one of the state’s finalists in the 6th Annual 2012 VSA Florida Young Soloist Competition.

Yesterday marked the closing of the voter registration books for new voters wanting to cast a ballot in the November 6 General Election; St Johns County will have 80,894 Republicans, 38,667 Democrats, and 32,647 additional voters who are eligible to vote.
