Las Posadas celebrates 400-year-old Hispanic Christmas tradition

Last Saturday was the second annual celebration of Las Posadas del Viejo San Augustine along St George Street in the historic Colonial Quarter.
Anastasia Boulevard businessman Bruce Maguire tells Historic City News that merchants along the Anastasia entrance corridor to St Augustine want to be included in the city’s Nights of Lights activities. He says that he and wife Virginia Whetstone are setting an example with three of their properties and he hopes that others will follow suit.
Monday’s meeting of the St Augustine City Commission included a discussion on how to legally justify a tougher panhandling ordinance, presented by Constitutional Law Attorney Michael Kahn of Melbourne, Florida.
Historic City News was notified by Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Officer, Debbie Delgado, that traffic will be impacted at the following
St Augustine and St Johns County locations where roadwork is being conducted.
Be alert to lane closures and temporary detours, as well as increased congestion in these areas. FDOT employees and contractors will be working on the roadways and need your full attention.
Media Relations Officer Brittany Kershaw reported to Historic City News Saturday that two fugitives from St Johns County were apprehended Friday at a residence located in Palm Coast. Both were booked into the Flagler County Detention Facility and then returned to St Augustine.
