St. Augustine Port Waterway & Beach District Chairman Barry Benjamin reported to Historic City News that the safety of boaters and swimmers in St. Johns County has been significantly improved by the acquisition of two state-of-the-art rescue boats.
St. Johns County Sheriff David B. Shoar wants to ask those Historic City News readers who live along St. Johns County’s 125 miles of waterways, to consider the potentially lifesaving benefits of posting their address where it can be seen from the water.

Karen Pan reported the following Thanksgiving holiday schedule for various St. Johns County facilities to Historic City News:

The City of St. Augustine reported to Historic City News that city offices will be closed for business Thursday and Friday, November 26th and 27th for the Thanksgiving holidays.

Historic City News was informed by Beverly Keneagy, Communications Consultant for the Friends of A1A, that new picnic pavilions, a gazebo, and additional beach walkovers are among the new public amenities that were celebrated at the ribbon cutting for the River to Sea Preserve near Marineland.

Betty Griffin House Community Awareness Coordinator Kim Collins reported to Historic City News that the 20th Anniversary of Betty Griffin House will be celebrated on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the World Golf Village Renaissance Resort.

The Florida Bar reported to Historic City News that St. Augustine Judge Wendy W. Berger has been selected from a field of 27 applicants to be one of thirteen who will be considered to fill the vacancy on The First District Court of Appeals that was created by the resignation of Judge Edward T. Barfield.
