Florida Department of Veterans Affairs Executive Director Mike Prendergast informed Historic City News that he will announce the appointment of a new administrator for the Clyde E. Lassen State Veterans’ Nursing Home in St. Johns County tomorrow.

A two-hour City Commission workshop, before Monday’s regular City Commission meeting, focused on remodeling of the Visitor Information Center as an event venue and a review of city codes for better use of the promenade.

Police Chief Loran Lueders told Historic City News that a redesign to accommodate safety requirements at the St. Francis House shelter will result in eight beds being assigned for City Police and the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.

Patti Henderson reported to Historic City News that, due to air conditioning problems at their regular meeting location, the St. Augustine Tea Party will hold tonight’s meeting at an alternate location.

Dean of Florida School of the Arts, Alain Hentschel, announced to local Historic City News reporters that there will be a variety of performing and visual arts events to enlighten and entertain with the Florida School of the Arts 2011-12 seasons.

Brian Thompson, Director of Public Information for Flagler College reported to Historic City News that for the ninth year, Flagler has been included in the “Princeton Review” annual college guide, “Best 376 Colleges – 2012 Edition.” Flagler was also ranked as 17th on a list for Best College Radio Stations, and 19th for Most Beautiful…

Kenya Kelley informed local Historic City News reporters today that St. Johns River State College will hold orientations for students enrolled for the first time in their dual enrollment program.
