The Florida Department of Transportation reported to Historic City News today that their contractor, Astron General Contracting Co. Inc, is scheduled to begin a bridge rehabilitation project on the Bridge of Lions in St. Augustine. The rehabilitation project, termed “minor” by FDOT officials, includes cosmetic improvements, cleaning, painting and electrical work starting Wednesday, May 16, barring dangerous weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Independent broadcast television station WJXT in Jacksonville reported yesterday on an upcoming 40-mile march beginning in Jacksonville on May 15 and concluding in Constitution Plaza in St Augustine on May 17, 2018.  According to the story, the purpose of the “March for Change” is to show solidarity between a few Jacksonville protest groups calling for the removal of Confederate monuments.

Carter Davis, CEO and Founder of Oregon-based 501c3 nonprofit “Lift for the 22”, a national organization providing one-year gym memberships to military veterans, announced to local Historic City News reporters that they have partnered with Anytime Fitness in St Augustine in the fight against veteran suicide.
