Dear Editor:

We have made significant progress at the Lincolnville Community Garden since my last update.

As politicians looking for budget savings and government employees concerned about future benefits prepared to battle over potential changes to the state pension system, lawmakers were told last week that Florida has typically done a better job than most states in funding its retirement system.

Along with losing ten pounds, my new year’s resolution is to “call out” black democrats, liberals and pundits who unfairly exploit race; using it as a bludgeon to “get their way”.

I am writing in response to a photograph that appeared in Sunday’s edition of the St. Augustine Record that was entitled “Smoking tribute to Civil War siege”.

When you think about it, fifty four years is a pretty long time.

According to an article presented in The St. Augustine Report, Historic City News has learned that thought is being given to changing the name of the city’s living history museum from “Colonial Spanish Quarter” to simply “Colonial Quarter”.

The City of St. Augustine is planning a major change to the traffic pattern within the historic district which could have disastrous effects on the traffic flow onto Anastasia Boulevard.

150 years ago, in early January 1861, a special convention of delegates from around the state met in Tallahassee to consider whether Florida should leave the Union.
