Request for Franchise Applications for the Operation of Animal-Drawn Carriages

The City of St. Augustine hereby requests, pursuant to Ordinance No. 2011-01, that interested applicants submit a Franchise Application for the issuance of a Franchise Agreement with respect to the commercial operation of animal-drawn carriages within the City of St Augustine.

Historic City News was updated by the Florida Association of Counties on the status of current bills in the Florida House and Senate; as week seven of this legislative session draws to a close.

Staff Assistant Ashley Cook reported to Historic City News that U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) will hold a town hall meeting in St. Augustine next week.

First elected St. Johns County Property Appraiser in 1996, Sharon Outland has announced her bid for re-election next year to Historic City News — the first of five constitutional officers who might face a challenger in the Primary Election on August 28, 2012 or might face a challenger in the General Election on November 6, 2012.

Historic City News was in attendance at the March 15, 2011 meeting, when St. Johns County Commissioner Mark Miner put the county attorney to task identifying county ordinances that once regulated and permitted the registration and carrying of firearms; ordinances, the privilege given and enforcement of which, have been illegal since the late 1980’s.

Historic City News receives regular reports from Commissioner Bliss as to the activities undertaken during the regular meeting of the St. Augustine Port, Waterway and Beach District.

Historic City News can report that, although its not final yet, the leaning of commissioners expressing their opinions seems to favor a lessening of restrictions to homeowners and a tightening of restrictions on nuisance sources of noise in St. Johns County.
