Last month, Historic City News reported that County Commission Chairman Ken Bryan announced that the county will modify its interlocal agreement with the City in September to turn operation of the Willie Galimore pool facility over to the city.

Historic City News learned that, while the total cost for the City to repair damages at the Visitor Information Center was $390,000, city commissioners last week approved a settlement from contractors Perry-McCall and Walker Parking Consultants for only $200,000.

Historic City News observed members of the St. Johns County Board of Commissioners vote yesterday to accept a federal SAFER grant, which provides funding for 12 new firefighter positions for the next two years.

The St. Johns County Tourist Development Council reported to Historic City News that they will hold two workshops to assist not-for-profit groups in applying for funding support for special events aimed at attracting visitors to St. Johns County.
