Living History donates in memory of Frank Suddeth

Historic City News has learned that St. Augustine’s Florida Living History, Inc. has donated $2,500 to The Salvation Army St. Augustine Corps in memory of Mr. William Frank Suddeth, Jr., who passed away this year.

Lincolnville resident promotes Love Gifts for children

Laura Smith informed local Historic City News reporters that St. Augustine’s beloved Ms. Carrie Johnson, a well-known community supporter and a resident of Lincolnville, is working to deliver a VISA gift card to each of the county’s 329 homeless children before school breaks for the holidays on December 17th.

Today, Governor Charlie Crist ceremonially signed House Bill 523, which creates the Florida Civil Rights Hall of Fame, joined by bill sponsors Representative Alan Williams and Senator Tony Hill.

Former St. Augustine Mayor George Gardner informed Historic City News local reporters that he has published a second series of his popular St. Augustine Bedtime Stories — factual accounts of the people, events, and cultures woven into the historic fabric of the nation’s oldest city.

Brian Thompson reported to Historic City News that Dr. Timothy Johnson, professor of Religion and chair of the Liberal Studies Department at Flagler College, will present “Presbyterian Wine in Byzantine Wineskins: Reflections on Flagler’s Memorial Church” on Tuesday, December 14th.

Historic City News reporters were on hand for the biennial reorganization of St. Augustine’s City Commission — with the one new face on the commission unexpectedly arriving by wheelchair.

Hastings man thrown to his death in car crash

St Johns County Traffic Homicide Investigator, Deputy J.D. McGinnis, informed local Historic City News reporters that a Hastings man was killed at about 1:40 a.m. this morning in a single vehicle traffic crash on south CR-13.
