Tackling challenges facing educators

With the start of a new school year, a local citizen group, Academic Education Coalition, gets back to work “to provide a forum for individuals, agencies, and organizations to collaborate and share for the purpose of strengthening our school system in meeting the academic and education needs of ALL students.”

TPC Sawgrass hosts Presidents Golf Classic

Bill Hughes, general manger of TPC Sawgrass, announced to Historic City News St. Johns County reporters that the PGA Tour and TPC Sawgrass are very proud to partner with Flagler College in hosting the annual President’s Golf Classic benefiting the Flagler College Scholarship Fund.

Writers in Residence: Nin Andrews

Director of Public Information Brian Thompson informed local Historic City News reporters that as part of the Flagler College Writers in Residence Program, poet Nin Andrews will read a selection of her poems on September 22nd at 7:00 p.m. at the Ringhaver Student Center.

Audubon Society presents Age of Dinosaurs

St. Johns County Audubon Society Board member Ali Fulcher invited local Historic City News readers to come to this month’s meeting to enjoy Dr. Barry Albright who will take you on a trip back into The Age of Dinosaurs.

Flagler receives donation from Andrew Young

Director of Public Information Brian Thompson informed local Historic City News reporters that civil rights activist Andrew Young has donated 15 interviews from his documentary, “Crossing in St. Augustine,” to Flagler College in what will begin a new archive chronicling the civil rights movement in St. Augustine.
