New Years Day traffic fatality on CR-13
Traffic Homicide Investigator, Deputy J.D. McGinnis, informed local Historic City News reporters that New Years Day did not escape a motor vehicle fatality in St. Johns County.
McGinnis responded to a single vehicle traffic collision that occurred on CR-13 South near Old Brick Road at 6:37 p.m. today.
A lone male occupant was determined to be the driver of the vehicle which ran off of the roadway, struck a tree, and ended with the driver being ejected.
When St. Johns County Fire Rescue arrived on the scene, the driver was pronounced dead.
His identity is being withheld at this time pending family notification.
McGinnis told Historic City News that he has not yet determined if alcohol contributed to the collision or the cause of the crash; which is currently under investigation.
