Historic City News was alerted by local law enforcement and emergency medical services that a shooting occurred in the Cypress Links neighborhood of St Johns County shortly after 1:00 a.m. this morning; sending one victim to Orange Park Medical Center via air ambulance.
Sergeant Charles E Mulligan informed local reporters that St Johns County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 9-1-1 call in the 4000 block of Golf Ridge Drive.
St Johns County Fire Rescue spokesman Matthew Sara informed Historic City News that paramedics and emergency medical technicians responded to the early morning shooting incident, as well — stabilizing the patient who was quickly transported as a trauma alert.
Initial reports from officials on the scene this morning indicate that the injuries may be self-inflicted; however, Mulligan says that evaluation of the evidence is continuing and the investigation is ongoing.
“No ruling has been made at this time,” Mulligan told Historic City News. “The incident is actively being investigated and we will provide further information as we know it.”
