Thursday evening, local Historic City News reporters learned that the Palmetto Lodge 25 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows presented a charitable donation to Carol Wolfe; President of the St Gerard House in St Augustine.
Noble Grand Gary Howell presented the $500.00 check to St. Gerard Campus, Inc., which is an independent, non-profit pregnancy resource center, maternity home and Christian high school for pregnant teenagers.
“The Palmetto Lodge believes in the work that is being done at the St Gerard House,” Howell told Historic City News. “Our Lodge’s motto is Friendship, Love, and Truth.”
Wolfe told reporters that the St Gerard Residency Program allows pregnant teenagers, and their babies, to live at St Gerard Campus while attending school. “We also include an on-site teaching daycare,” Wolfe said.
Gary Howell was joined by his wife, Cheryl Howell, in making the presentation to Carol Wolfe. “The Lodge works to help improve our community through donations annually to different charitable organizations,” Howell said. Wolfe expressed her appreciation for the donation, which she says will go directly towards operating costs.
