Historic City News has learned that a 20-year veteran of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office was arrested last night and he has been booked into the Flagler County Detention Facility following an argument with his ex-wife that investigators say turned violent.
Undersheriff Rick Staly told reporters that 42-year-old Ronn R Rauber has been charged with misdemeanor battery and has been suspended from the department — without pay.
“This is a serious problem in our community and no one is immune from their actions during a domestic argument that turns violent,” Staly said. “Our agency has a zero tolerance for domestic violence.”
Rauber, a Flagler County Sheriff’s detective, was taken into custody at the residence which he shares with his ex-wife and three minor children. Even though the couple’s 2011 divorce was made final last year, they continue to live together, as a family, according to a department communication.
Deputies responded to the couple’s home on Burning View Lane in Palm Coast around 6:08 p.m. after receiving a 911 call.
After they arrived, deputies determined that an argument had turned physical after Rauber learned that his ex-wife had introduced one of his children to one of her male friends. Rauber’s ex-wife told deputies that the 5’8″, 160 lbs man pinned her by her wrists against a wall in their bedroom. Rauber denied the argument turned physical.
During a first appearance hearing this morning, bond was set at $2,500.
